Grown Ass Man
06:02
|

I know, I am a grown ass man
With smoke and mirrors and terrors in my head
Oh no, I've done it again
So tie that noose around my neck
Just get on with it
Cause I don't know that I can hold it in
It thunders in my head
Like a desert tumble wind
Rolling over, and over again
Oh, let's ride it out together
Oh, despite of all this desert
I know, I have shown my hand
I'd trade my life away for a little piece of land
Oh no, I'm out of my depth
Strap the anchor to my chest
and kick it off the deck
Cause I don't know that I can hold it in
It thunders in my head
Like a desert tumble wind
Rolling over, and over again
Oh, let's ride it out together
Oh, despite of all this desert
Oh, tell me what's your pleasure
Cause oh, your veins look pretty weathered
But we'll ride it out together
I know, I am a grown ass man and I've been told
Boy, you ain't too clever
Well that's for sure
And I should know better than to hold to hope
That the country road
Will lead me home
But the winter storm
Washed it out
Oh, let's ride it out together
Oh, despite of all this desert
Oh, tell me what's your pleasure
Cause oh, your veins look pretty weathered
But we'll ride it out together

Draft Dodger
04:57
|

Back in ol’65, I got a hand drawn letter from the suits in stripes
Selling me a ticket to die, if the signs in the streets ain't telling me lies
Me and some boys I went to school with
Took a long trip up to the border line
Draft dodging into the Northern lights
Back as a kid, they’d shoot shots overhead for just trespassing
That’s how I know, ain’t no good could come'a this jet setting
Don’t get me wrong, I would die on my land like my grand daddy
But I don’t know, no folks, in Vietnam er what-have-ya
So I’m draft dodging into the night
I hold, I hold, to hope that
My home, my home will grow back
Oklahoma, knows that, it smells of the ashes of my kin
Oh Sonoma, knows that, I need to lay my weary head
Just let me in
Now I’m near sixty five, I wrote my own damn letter to suits in stripes
Looking for a place to die, on the old man's ranch in the southern skies
I miss the boys I went to school with
Cause they all jumped ship and gave up the fight
I ain’t seem them in half a lifetime
And I hold, I hold, to hope that
My home, my home will grow back
And Oklahoma, knows that, it smells of the ashes of my kin
And oh Sonoma, knows that, I need to lay my weary head
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
I miss the smell of garden rain
I miss the way that mamma sang
I miss the Mississippi river
Running through my veins
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
I miss the smell of garden rain
I miss the way that mamma sang
I miss the Mississippi river
Running through my veins
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
I miss my home

Railtie
03:28
|
|||
It came outta nowhere
Off the tip of the tongue
In a wild eyed abandonment
Of the book she'd sworn upon
I'd seen it coming
Had to let it go
What keeps me up at night might,
Keep me alive awhile
Spike the railtie
And pay no mind
The tealeaves read
We won't be leaving here alive
So fill my cup up
Until the well runs dry
Cause if I'm leaving here
I ain't leaving nothing behind
I crushed a fortune
In the palm of my hand
Rummaged the passage out
And read aloud
You had it coming
Wanna let you know
You can't outrun a
Life of wandering
Spike the railtie
And pay no mind
The tealeaves read
We won't be leaving here alive
So fill my cup up
Until the well runs dry
Cause if I'm leaving here
I ain't leaving nothing behind

All In

Well I'm all in
For this life of squalor
Falling
For some lonesome daughter
Hollering
Hollering
At the darkness
Take me in
Well it's the silence
That's most deafening
And I'm trying
To fight the reckoning
But lightning
Lightning
Breaks the silence
Well I'm all in
For this life of squalor
Falling
For some lonesome daughter
Hollering
I'm Hollering
At the darkness
Take me in
Well It the silence
That's most deafening
And I'm trying
To fight the reckoning
But lightning
Lightning
Breaks the silence
Well I'm all in
I'm all in
Well I'm all in
I'm all in
